Hello to all those that have made it this far. My name is Tyler Merrell. I love the outdoors hunting, fishing, hiking, trapping, and just having fun with my family. I also like genealogy or family history whatever you want to call it. I love hearing new stories and finding new things that were left behind by my ancestors.
I grew up in Mapleton, Utah and went to Springville High School. I am studying computer science a Utah Valley University and hope to graduate soon. Programming has got me into building different ways of sharing family history. I am excited about several apps that I am currently planning to build.
After high school I worked in a cemetery mowing lawns and trimming the grass around head stones. I like to think that there I got more into family history there. I learned a lot about how a cemetery works, and while I was there it was fun to see how a cemetery is set up and how to locate what you are looking for. I even got to help burry a few people.
I am married to the wife of my dreams, Sharlee. We have been married science 2014 and it has been the best years of my life. We have one daughter and one son and we love life and playing hard.
Why am I writing this blog?
I want to share with the world what you can learn from your family history and how fun it is to see what you can find if you just put your mind to it. I also want to learn more and share what I know about finding people, places, and things that have been gone for years.
One of my favorite things to do is to find old things and then find the story behind the item. One of the coolest things I have found so far is a cabin. I am not sure if someone in my family built the cabin but it is in the area of where they lived. Click here to read more.
I want to share some of my ideas of activities that you could do with your family to find what was left behind for you to find. I will probably share what we have done as a family or what we are doing to learn more about our family. I also want to share the technologies that I am using to find this information and help you get started on finding exciting new things in your family tree.
